On the eve of Y2K, orphaned 12-year-old Beverly discovers a broken mixtape crafted by her teen parents. Raised by her grandmother – who struggles talking about her late daughter – Beverly sees the mixtape as a chance to finally learn more about her parents.
This is a story about George. A novelist who is retreating for peace and quiet at his summer home in the woods. We follow him through his abrupt writer's block where nothing he writes seems to be good enough. Soon after he hears music coming from the forest and is later acquainted with Daisy, who is a mystical child. She mimics George's self conscious and brings him back on the road to creativity, through reminding him of a much simpler time when he was a kid.
After finding a ladybug in the school playground, Dominique cares for the newly-found bug. In her classroom, Dominique is bullied by Jessica and Sam, who pick on her by tossing her ladybug, prompting her to seek revenge.
