The hanged man is a child custody drama with thriller elements, situated on a small island off the southern coast of Norway. Down-to-earth fisherman Jon's long suffering marriage to local fortune teller Hedvig has finally collapsed, and frustrated with his wife's increasingly hard to ignore eccentricities, he takes their son and goes to live with his mother on another part of the island. The hanged man is a film that deals with themes such as fate, faith and coincidence, wrapped up in a exciting and intense drama.
