Comedy inspired by paperback crime novels tells the story of an adventurous search for a mysterious murderer who just after the end of the First World War has begun a rampage in Wilson City, a jerkwater town somewhere in Eastern Europe. The investigation is being led by an inhomogeneous pair of detectives - a greenhorn and local police cadet named Eisner and an experienced FBI officer Food, who has been sent to Europe by US President Woodrow Wilson himself.
The protagonists are the same, only five years older: Kocourek (Tomáš Vorel Jr.) Kolman (Jiří Mádl), mother Kocourková (Zuzana Bydžovská), mother Kolmanová (Ivana Chýlková) and father Kolman (Jan Kraus). Kocourek applies to study graphic design at the UMPRUM. He has not been accepted twice because there is a great interest in studying at this university, only a select few are accepted. Mother Kocourková has long given up on the dream that her son will study something proper and that she will ever understand him, and so she increasingly talks to herself with a bottle of vodka. Kolman, meanwhile, is studying in his second year at the University of Economics. But instead of lectures and seminars, he is only interested in his classmates. He packs one after another. He solves his exams and credits by fraud or bribery. Kocourek, on the other hand, is conscientious and hardworking and falls head over heels in love with the enchanting Júlia, who is also applying to the UMPRUM.
